The jive was the latest craze when these youngsters joined a dance session at St James's church in Pollok in 1958.
And it wasn't just the dance that was new in Pollok. The church building, designed by H E Clifford, was built as Titwood Parish Church between 1893-1895. The church, in Glencairn Drive, Pollokshields, was dismantled and moved to Meikelrig Crescent in Pollok between 1951 and 1953 and renamed St James's.
The move was a major undertaking, with each stone numbered so that the church could be rebuilt on the new site. St James's opened its doors on 3 September 1953.
The arrival of the new church marked the beginning of the ministry of the infamous Rev James Currie. Currie was a charismatic minister who enjoyed a huge personal following and was famous for his witty and irreverent sermons.
