Waxy O’Connors

An Irish bar with a difference, Waxy’s city centre location beside Queen Street Station makes it an ideal place for after or even before work drinks.

Spacious and set over three floors, the atmosphere is authentically Irish and the polished wooden floors and décor gives off a pirate ship like vibe. It’s hard not to get lost in the pubs maze-like grip as each floor looks startlingly different to each other, with six bars spread over them.

Traditional Christmas food is also available, along with festive finger snacks.

Firewater

One for the alternative Christmas fan, Firewater offers Indie music, cheap drinks and a rocking atmosphere this festive period.

One of the more well-known party venues in student circles, trendy is the buzz word for this Sauchiehall Street pub.

A good choice if you fancy a dance, but hate most of the Christmas music (bah humbug) as the two dancefloors offer a varied choice of music, from Motown in one room and rock and roll in the other.

Take full advantage of cut-price drink deals on Wednesday and Thursday nights, where you can buy a vodka and mixer for less than a £1.

Hummingbird

One of the more expensive options on our list, Hummingbird on Bath Street offers a quality and relaxed experience this Christmas.

A renovated townhouse that occupies four floors, the bar offers a specialised cocktail menu that gives customers an almost unlimited choice of tipples and their expertly-trained bar staff offer an even wider range of drink options.

Not content with being labelled as a “cocktail bar” Hummingbird also offers a fantastic varied food menu and in-house DJs who can turn your delicious Christmas meal into a festive party.

Hillhead Book Club

A venue that epitomises the culture of Glasgow’s West End, Hillhead Book Club is a kind of urban legend that people who aren’t from that area of town don’t dare to talk about or visit.

Although it is as “hipster” as they want you to believe, the bar is a unique place to hold a Christmas party. The whole place is a goldmine for nostalgia and childhood memories, with a retro-theme running throughout.

Old video games, cocktails served in gramophones and a menu offering alternative festive food like salmon and numerous vegan options.

Missoula

Missoula is an ideal place if you are a traditionalist and prefer a normal, booze-fuelled Christmas meal and party.

Located in the city centre, on West George Street, Missoula is already a popular birthday party venue and for good reason.

A fun, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, Missoula puts a big emphasis on their customer service skills and makes sure that every visitor is having a good time.

Although a wee bit cheesy, sometimes that’s a good thing for Christmas parties where everyone wants to just have a laugh and let their hair down.

Of course, we want our readers to enjoy themselves over the festive period, but we’d like to remind everyone to drink responsibly.
