Verdict: Three stars of summer scent

Every woman loves a good candle and when I was given the chance to try Shearer Candles, I couldn't wait to see if their scent lived up to their reputation.

After all, this is the same Glasgow-based firm who supplied candles to Madonna for her Scottish wedding to her ex-husband Guy Ritchie in 2000.

Candles can create atmosphere, scent a home and offer a sense of style in a property.

Lemon Zest and Clean Slate are the latest candles to be launched by Shearer Candles.

Evening Times:

The Lemon Zest range, presented in sunny yellows, displays “fresh, juicy lemon fragrances, enhanced by sparkling verbena and lemongrass”. In contrast, Clean Slate, presented in cool greys, displays “hints of lily, jasmine and white rose”.

Both of the candles come in stylish packaging and fitted beautifully with my decor.

The scents were also gorgeous and filled the air quickly. I, however, felt that the candles worked better in my bathroom. The size of that room kept the scent strong whereas they got lost in my living room.

Evening Times:

I also got a lot of use out of the candles which was a bonus and I was able to light them several times.

Both ranges are available in a variety of forms, including tin candles, glass jar candles, pillars, scent diffusers and tea lights. The firm also introduces “wax melt” versions of all 15 scents within the Couture Collection.

Lemon Zest and Clean Slate is available to purchase from Shearer Candles’ stores and website, along with selected retailers across the country.

The price ranges from £5 to £25 depending on type of candle. Diffusers are also available.
