GLASGOW Italian restaurateur Domenica Crolla has come up with a brand new way of serving cheese in his restaurant - as an ICE-CREAM.

And the creative owner of Oro, in Glasgow’s South Side, has specially commissioned three different flavours based on his favourite Italian cheeses.

The gelato cheese board boasts ricotta, mascarpone and bufala cheese ice-creams inspired by Italian tastebuds.

The dish was created to celebrate Oro’s inclusion in the top 100 Italian Restaurants In The World outside of Italy.

Domenico revealed he managed to convince his local ice-cream maker to experiment with buffalo milk to make the new flavours - and he reckons it will be a big hit.

He said: “At Oro, we always like to offer our customers a twist on the classical Italian dishes.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on coming up with new dishes to entice our customers and have built up a great reputation for the quality of our food here and overseas.

“It was difficult to find someone who would create three brand new ice-cream flavours, particularly using hard-to-source buffalo milk, but I managed in the end.

“It has created a truly unique taste.”

The ice-cream cheese board is now available in Oro priced for £6.95.

Meanwhile, Domenico is celebrating his latest inclusion in the top 100 Italian Restaurants in the World.

He joins Michelin-starred establishments as far afield as Dubai, Hong Kong and Australia.

He said: “It’s a real honour to be amongst the best quality restaurants in the world, and I’m looking forward to attending the grand ceremony in Rome on October 29.”
