A GLASGOW Indian restaurant is offering customers a taste of the exotic - with an Indian afternoon tea.
With no finger sandwiches or scones in sight, customers will, instead, be introduced to a range of tasty treats at the stylish Candleriggs restaurant, most of which many diners will never have tasted.
Each customer will be presented with a pot of chai brewed in the traditional Indian style with ginger, cardamom and fennel.
They'll then be given a platter full of delicacies created by chef JD who has catered for ministers and royalty in his home country.
Among them are:
- RESHMI SEEKH - mini chicken kebabs rolled in thin bread and grilled
- MAKAI PANEER KABAB - dumplings of spiced paneer, corn and nuts
- DHOKLA TRIKONE - steamed chickpea bread layered with chutney
- MASALA DHOKLA - a mix of traditional potato and peas sandwich
- DAL WADA - crispy and soft savoury lentils balls topped with tamarind
- KEEMA CHEESE SAMOSA - pastry parcel with lamb mince and cheese
- NANKHATAI - sweet and savoury shortbread biscuits with fondant icing SUJI KA HALWA - sweet confection of semolina and nuts
Dhabba owner Navdeep Basi said: “We always like to offer our discerning diners something a little different and we realise how popular afternoon tea is in Scotland.
“We thought we could give our customers a real taste of Indian afternoon tea which has a history going back to the times of the Raj.
“It really makes a change from cucumber sandwiches and each dish is handmade freshly to order.”
The afternoon tea will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm until 4pm at a price of £30 for two people, including two pots of masala chai tea.
Prosecco can be added for an extra £5 each.
