INNOVATIVE Glasgow restaurant Six By Nico looks to be going from strength to strength as bosses invest half a million pounds launching the Scots brand in Belfast.

Renowned Glasgow-Italian chef Nico Simeone’s hugely popular eatery will be the third addition to the growing restaurant brand’s portfolio, taking Nico’s conceptual restaurant idea out of Scotland for the first time and placing it in Belfast’s bustling Cathedral Quarter.

The £500,000 investment pumped into the project will bring the introduction of a pioneering revolving culinary hub as, every six weeks, Nico and his team “reinvent the wheel” by serving a brand new six-course tasting-menu, each one themed upon a different place, memory or idea.

Drawing inspiration from both home and abroad, Nico and his team will combine different ingredients, flavours, and dishes to bring memories and stories creating a brand-new dining experience every few weeks.

With the opening comes exciting new job prospects and there are plans in place to create 40 news jobs in the local area once it opens early next month.

Nico said: “We are very excited to bring an unforgettable culinary experience to Belfast.

“I have visited the city and I grew up with an understanding of the strong Ulster Scots connection.

“Belfast is the perfect location for our next venture and I couldn’t think of a better location than the vibrant food and drinks scene of the Cathedral Quarter.”

Born in Glasgow to Italian parents, Nico was raised in a family of Mediterranean foodies.

His earliest memories are of his mother’s Italian cooking, helping her in the kitchen and large family meals around the table.

His colourful career has included stints at the Michelin-star Number One at Balmoral, where he worked with Craig Candle and was awarded Young Scottish Seafood Chef of the Year award, aged just 20.

Nico continued: “We are really looking forward to collaborating with local businesses in Belfast and have people from the city join our team.”

Six by Nico Belfast on Waring Street, Belfast, will become the latest addition to the city’s burgeoning restaurant and bar scene.

From creative menu concepts to outstanding food and service, the venue will aim to become an immediate hit with the people of Belfast. Here at home, the Nico team is ready to launch its latest concept “Paris”.

A new season brings with it an exciting theme and, with this latest offering, Nico has created a Parisian menu featuring everything from exotic delicacies to traditional crowd-pleasers.

The reputation of French cuisine proceeds itself and, as a world culinary capital, Paris is renowned for celebrating its food traditions.

Nico and his team hope guests at his restaurants are ready to have their senses titillated as he serves up the essence of the French capital.

The new six-course tasting

menu includes a unique twist on French onion soup, coq au vin,

petit pois a la français, bouillabaisse, beef bourguignon, crème brûlée.

“Paris” will run from March 5 until April 14 at Glasgow and Edinburgh Six by Nico restaurant sites only.
