Actress Kelly Macdonald and Travis star Dougie Payne could make it a Mr & Mrs' double at this year's Scottish Style Awards.

The Glasgow couple were today named as nominees in the Most Stylish Female and Male categories for the fourth annual awards.

They face competition from singer Shirley Manson, of pop group Garbage and actor Dougray Scott.

The Style Awards recognise the top talents in the design and fashion world and the winners will be announced at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on October 24.

Five of the six nominees for the Fashion Designer of the Year category are from in and around Glasgow, including Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane and Deryck Walker.

All five nominees in the Most Stylish Band Or Musician category have a strong city connection, such as Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie, singer Sharleen Spiteri, and dance producer Calvin Harris, who moved to Glasgow last year.

Bath Street's Japanese restaurant Mama San, Charing Cross bar Black Sparrow, Bath Street boutique hotel Saint Judes, and the Byblos nightclub in the Merchant City are among the Best Venue categories.

Independent stores Che Camille, Goodlife and underwear emporium Boudiche will compete for the title of Most Stylish Boutique.

The awards' most coveted prize, Tastemaker Of The Year, will be fought out among artist Jim Lambie, stylist Mhairi Gibb, choreographer Michael Clark, curator Paul Nesbitt and beauty therapist Nichola Joss.

Rocker turned TV presenter Lauren Laverne will present the awards show.

A catwalk event the night before the Scottish Style Awards will showcase the work of Scottish designers, such as Aimee McWilliams, Jamie Bruski Tetsill, Vidler & Nixon and Alice Palmer. Tickets, £15, are available by calling 0141 353 8000.
