A SCOTS film star is swapping Hollywood for Glasgow as he heads home to attend an exclusive showing of his new film.

James Cosmo, who had roles in Braveheart and The Chronicles Of Narnia, will join film industry figures to view gangster film The Clan at Glasgow Film Theatre tomorrow.

The movie, set in the Highlands, tells the story of two families, who have been at war for more than 300 years and have turned to organised crime.

The clan members are thrown into turmoil when the two youngest members of each family, Nicole McNabb and Cal McKinley, fall in love and Nicole gets pregnant.

When their families find out, they are horrified to realise the blood-lines of both clans will be mixed if the child is born, putting Nicole's life is in danger.

James, who lives in the Hollywood Hills, plays Hector McKinley, head of the McKinley family, who is struggling to control his own clan while battling a terminal illness.

The film has been made by independent film-maker Lee Hutcheson, from Aberdeen.

He will join James, most of the cast and Scottish film industry figures at the GFT screening.

The firm, starring many young Glaswegians in key roles, will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September, where director Lee hopes to get a distribution deal.

He said: "It's a great story and all of our cast, from the veterans like James Cosmo to the new kids, are fantastic."

Lee hopes The Clan will help him attract more cash to make a film about Gorbals burglar Johnny Ramensky, who won military honours during the Second World War as a safe-cracking commando.

He said: "I have raised about £4million so I could do a version of the film now, but it's a great story so I want to hold on until I have the budget to do it justice."
