SCOTS actor Kevin McKidd is to take on the role of Grand Marshal when hundreds of pipers bring Sixth Avenue in New York to a standstill at the weekend.
New Yorkers are set to be bedazzled when the 15th annual Tartan Day Parade is held in the Big Apple when pipers will be joined by leading politicians, dancers, 40 Viking warriors even two Shetland ponies dressed in Shetland knitted sweaters.
Elgin-born Kevin, 39, who starred in Trainspotting and provided the voice of Lord MacGuffin in the animated adventure, Brave, has even promised to entertain revellers with a couple of songs.
The day will also be used to highlight the 2014 Homecoming when Scotland invites the world to year-long celebrations which will include the Ryder Cup and the Commonwealth Games.
