RAIL passengers faced delays this morning after engineering works over-ran.

Routes between Motherwell and Cumbernauld and Glasgow and Gourock were severely affected as well as the Glasgow to Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston line.

Scotrail warned of "severe disruption" on their website this morning.

Trains between Motherwell and Cumbernauld resumed normal service at around 8.30am while passengers were warned that services between Glasgow Central and Gourock may be cancelled, delayed or terminated and started back from Port Glasgow.

Buses were made available for affected passengers.
