SHOPPERS are being ­invited to board a refurbished double decker bus at a busy city mall and embark on a culinary journey.

Food from the streets is on the menu of a roadshow being staged at Glasgow Fort and featuring a range of ­delights from beefy burgers to Mexican burritos.

The East End mall is being transformed into a street food village this weekend and the following three where just about something for every palate will be served up.

Traders include Nusou which specialises in bowls of noodles and fresh ribboned vegetables and represented Scotland in this year's British Street Food Awards.

There's also Breaking Bread which offers a world food menu from lamb kofta to burgers made from Northumbrian hand ground beef as well as Mighty Mexican with its selection of tacos, nachos and burritos.

For the sweet-toothed there will be Zoete Koek.

Richard Johnson is the man behind the Eats from the Street event and who organises the British Street Food Awards to champion the best of the 10,000 chefs who cook on the UK's streets.

He believes Glasgow Fort is an ideal location.

He said: "This is such a good idea. The hottest new restaurant openings in the last two years have all started off on the streets - from Meat Liquor and Pizza ­Pilgrims, to Yum Bun, Homeslice, Patty and Bun and Pitt Cue."

Fort manager Phil Goodman added: "It is a great ­concept and we're sure our customers will enjoy the delicious and diverse range of food on offer."
