A WOMAN was raped in a lane attack.

Police were called to Govanhill last night to reports of a 30-year-old woman being targeted near to Queen's Park.

The assault took place in Queens Drive, behind the Queen's Park Cafe, around 9pm.

Officers said they were following a positive line of enquiry into the incident but are calling for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw anything suspicious is urged to call the police non-emergency number 101.

Detective Inspector Frank Clarke of Police Scotland’s Greater Glasgow Division said: “Police enquiries are ongoing into this incident and officers are following a positive line of enquiry at this time.

“This is a very busy area, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact Police Scotland on 101.
