HUNDREDS of homes in Glasgow will benefit from a cut in energy bills with a new heating project.
The Broomhill District Healing project will cost £10.6m and heat 700 homes in the Cube Housing Association multi-storey flats in the west of the city.
Alex Neil Social Justice secretary announced the programme at another community energy project, in Knightswood in Glasgow.
It will be part funded with a £5m loan from the Scottish Partnership for Regeneration in Urban Centres (SPRUCE) Fund, a joint Scottish Government and European Regional Development Fund initiative.
The remaining funding will come from British Gas.
The SPRUCE fund has invested £50m in programmes since 2011 and the Broomhill funding is the last allocation.
But now cash from earlier projects is beginning to be repaid the money will be recycled into more new programmes across the country.
