TOP Scots Bollywood dancers the Desi Bravehearts have launched a hunt to find new talent to join the group.

The Glasgow-based troupe, which was formed in 2007, includes members from a wide range of backgrounds who are trained by a choreographer from Mumbai.

This year is already looking to be one of the busiest so far as members prepare to bring their colourful costumes and routines to audiences across the UK – including the popular Glasgow Mela which is attended by crowds of around 45,000 people.

Ahead of a string of scheduled performances this year, the Desi Bravehearts are looking for new dancers aged 16 or over to attend a free taster session at Maryhill Community Central Hall on Monday.

Glasgow Mela producer Harminder Berman said: “We are delighted to have worked with the Desi Bravehearts over a number of years.

“Each and every time they have delivered electrifying and quality performances with their wonderful colourful costumes and fantastic routines. They are Bollywood dance at its best.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to join the group and perform at events across the country and further afield. No professional qualifications or experience is required – just a love of dance and good fun.”

Glasgow MSP Hanzala Malik said the Desi Bravehearts are known for producing electrifying and quality performances which entertain thousands of people each year.

He added: “They continue to rise to the challenge in terms of high quality of entertainment and are by far the best Bollywood act in Scotland.

“I had the privilege of attending their performance at the Mumbai Festival in India where they did themselves and Scotland proud, outperforming local groups. I am sure they will continue to bring magic and glamour to the Scottish cultural scene.”
