Passengers have been evacuated from a train at Haymarket station following a fire.

The 10:38 train from Inverurie to Edinburgh Waverley caught fire in one of the carriage wheels at about 13:25.

The ScotRail train was taken to Russell Road sidings, where the fire was extinguished by firefighters using carbon dioxide and foam.

No-one was hurt and the train has been taken out of service so it can be fixed.

A ScotRail spokeswoman said: "Due to a hot axle box underneath the train, the 10:38 Inverurie to Edinburgh train terminated at Haymarket. All passengers safely left the train."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said four fire engines attended a small fire in a train carriage wheel in Edinburgh.
