Tributes have been paid after an academic who taught at Glasgow University for more than 45 years died.
Professor Patrick O'Donnell, 68, known as Paddy, died at home last weekend after a long illness. His funeral takes place in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on Saturday.
Glasgow-born Prof O'Donnell retired last year after 46 years as an academic in psychology at the university, where he taught more than 25,000 students including three generations of the same family.
Friend and colleague Professor Stephany Biello said a former student told her Mr O'Donnell was a "legend" at the university and had added "in first year, even before your first lecture, you hear of him from older students and he sure does not disappoint".

She added: "Professor O'Donnell's contribution to the University of Glasgow - academically, administratively and pedagogically - has been truly immense.
"Over the decades, his vision and tireless efforts forged the foundation of the national and international recognition and success that psychology at the University of Glasgow enjoys today."
The university plans to offer an award in his name from September to recognise and encourage staff activity in the areas of teaching, learning and assessment.
Prof O'Donnell is survived by his wife Mary and daughter Ruth.
