The sister of missing Chapelhall woman has lauched a desperate public plea after the hairdresser disappeared one week ago.

Yvonne Dornan, 31, from Chapelhall in Airdrie, was last seen at around 3.30pm on Thursday, July 28. 

Sister Jacqueline Dornan has issued a public appeal for information regarding her sister's whereabouts.

She said: "My sister Yvonne hasn't been seen or heard from since Thursday 28th.

I was the last person to see her. We just want to know she is safe, so if you see her or hear from her please get in contact. Someone must have seen her.

"You here of things like this happening all the time but you never think it'll happen to you. Just please Yvonne, come home."

Her family have described her disappearance as out of character. 

Police Scotland confirmed they have launched a missing persons investigation. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Yvonne Dornan, 31, was reported missing by relatives."

"She was last seen on Thursday, July 28, at her home address in Chapelhall."

"We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward or if anyone has seen Yvonne we urge her to get in contact."

"Enquiries are ongoing."
