WHEN the A-List come to Glasgow, they don’t just stay cooped up in their plush hotels – they head out and explore.

1. Ed Sheeran in The Pot Still, Hope Street

When the MTV Awards were held at the city's SSE Hydro in 2014, singer Ed Sheeran shunned a glitzy after-party in favour of a city boozer.

The star held his own after-party in The Pot Still, Hope Street. He also visted cocktail bar Blue Dog in West George Street during his visit to the city.

2. Alexandra Burke in Silverburn Shopping Centre

Shopping seemed to be the one thing on former X Factor star Alexandra Burke's mind when she visited Glasgow to perform in The Bodyguard.

For the singer headed straight to the city's Southside for some retail therapy in Silverburn.

3. Mariah Carey in Asda, Govan

Well sort of. The US superstar sent her crew out for an "emergency" 3am trip to Asda in Govan ahead of her SSE Hydro show. Her team visited the supermarket with a shopping list of goodies to keep her twins Monroe and Moroccan entertained.

4. Alicia Keys in a Gorbals housing estate

US superstar Alicia Keys posted about her love of the city after she played here in 2014, and the songstress even posed for a picture with cops at a housing estate in the Gorbals. The singer was performing in the nearby o2 Academy.

5. Backstreet Boys AJ McLean in King of Kilts MacGregor and MacDuff, City Centre

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean got in touch with his Scottish roots and visited a city centre kilt shop when his band played the SSE Hydro.

McLean, whose father's family originally hail from the Isle of Mull and are one of the oldest Highland clans, has previously spoke of his Scottish roots.

6. Madonna in nightclub Kokomo, West Regent Street

Madonna explored the best of Glasgow city centre nightlife when she played at the SSE Hydro - by hitting a club.

The singer visited Kokomo in West Regent Street - and even pulled some of her famous moves on the dance floor.

7. Comedian John Bishop in Mother India, West End

Funnyman John Bishop tucked into curry at a popular Indian restaurant ahead of his show at the SSE Hydro.

The comedian visited Mother India in the city's West End.

8. Golfer Rory McIIroy in Lychee Oriental, Mitchell Lane

Golfer Rory McIlroy headed straight to a Glasgow restaurant to tuck into Chinese food after competing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship back in 2014.

Staff at the Lychee Oriental in the city's Mitchell Street posted a picture with the golfer and said: "Great having world number 1 golfer Rory McIlroy in for dinner tonight!"

9. Louisa Lytton in Gusto, Bothwell Street 

Former Eastenders actress Louisa Lytton headed to Gusto while she was playing Rizzo in Grease at the King's Theatre.

10. Sam Heughan in a spin class, Glasgow Caledonian

Outlander star Sam Heughan proved he is in tip-top shape for his role of Jamie Fraser in the hit show - by taking part in a lunchtime spin class. 

The hunky actor was spotted in the class at Glasgow's Caledonian University.

11. Sporty Spice Mel C in Nail Zone, Hope Street

Melanie C had her nails done at a city centre salon during a recent visit to the city.

The former Spice Girl was putting on a solo show and dropped by Nail Zone to have a treatment.

12. Boyzlife in Bay Horse, Bath Street

From a girl band star to former boy band singers. Fans were left screaming when Brian McFadden, of Westlife, and Keith Duffy, of Boyzone, sang their respective band's hits in a city boozer.

The pair surprised revellers in the Bay Horse in Bath Street by belting out some old favourites.

13. Kiefer Sutherland in Sichaun House, Sauchiehall Street

The Designated Survivor or Jack Bauer, of 24, as he is known to others enjoyed a Chinese while playing a gig in Glasgow.

These lucky ladies grabbed a selfie with Kiefer Sutherland who feasted in Sichaun House on Sauchiehall Street.

14. Ian Brown in Bar Soba, Merchant City 

Madchester legend Ian Brown visited a Merchant City restaurant during a trip to the city.

The Stone Roses frontman posed for a picture in Bar Soba, which also has restaurants in the city centre and West End.

15. Usher in Forbidden Planet, Buchanan Street 

Glasgow music fans had to do a double take after spotting US superstar Usher in the city centre shopping ahead of his SSE Hydro gig.

The OMG star was spotted having breakfast in the Blythswood Hotel before pictures of him at various independent Glasgow stores were posted on social media in the run up to his gig.

He visited Buchanan Street comic book store The Forbidden Planet where staff joked about just how much stock he bought.

16. Usher, Ariana Grande and other celebrities, City Centre Bus Stop

Glasgow student Holly Hughes has rubbed shoulders with Usher, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande - thanks to her bus stop next to the plush Blythswood Square Hotel.

Holly has grabbed selfies with celebrities staying at the plush hotel at the stop while waiting on the bus.

17. Sky Sports favourite Chris Kamara, Kelvingrove Art Gallery

He's a favourite with Sky Sports fans and recently Chris Kamara grabbed a cheeky selfie in one of the city's top museums.

18. Still Game's Ford Kiernan, Coia's Cafe, Dennistoun

Funnyman Ford Kiernan visited one of the East End's most famous cafes.

The Still Game star, who plays Jack Jarvis in the hit BBC show, visited Coia's Cafe in Duke Street.

19. Paolo Nutini, Claire from Steps and a bunch of actors, Admiral Bar

Our former columnist Gary Lamont spoke of a night out in the Admiral Bar with a whole host of his celebrity pals.

He said: "What do you get when you get when you cross Paolo Nutini, Claire from Steps and Joe McFadden from Holby City? A pretty surreal and boozy Saturday night out at the Admiral Bar, that's what!"
