FANS of a popular Govanhill bakery were gutted when owners announced it was to close.

Back in May, the team at Bakery47 in Victoria Road revealed it was to shut later this year.

After opening nearly three years ago, the bakery would see massive queues form outside on a Saturday and Sunday morning as locals waited to purchase freshly baked goods.

Owners Sam and Anna Luntley confirmed that they had taken the bakery as far as they could as its success left them "exhausted".

However, the bakery is set for a return as the pair revealed that they are set to launch a new concept.

The pair are beginning to put plans in motion for a bakery residential.

They have described it as a "spoil yourself weekend of sourdough bread, cake and pastry workshops, fine wine, great food, good times and all those extra little details."

The venue has been confirmed as Inshriach House in Aviemore, a place close to their hearts and Bakery47's birth place.

More details and bookings will be announced very soon.
