A MAN has been arrested after another man was assaulted while helping a crying woman.
The 64-year-old man was attacked in Larkhall on Saturday September 30.
The incident happened around 11.55pm after the man left a pub on Raploch street, and noticed the upset woman.
He was then punched and fell over,before being taken to hospital for treatment to a facial injury.
Police have now confirmed a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokeswoman said: "A 47 year old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with an alleged serious assault."
He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court tomorrow.
