CONCERN is growing for a pensioner who has gone missing from his home.

Michael John Mills, who is known as John, disappeared from his house overnight on Wednesday.

The 69-year-old was at home in Holmhead, Kilbirnie at 10pm on Wednesday but when his daughter woke the next day her dad was gone.

He is described as 5ft 4in tall, stocky with grey balding hair.

When last seen he was wearing a dark jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and blue and grey Karrimor shoes.

Inspector Colin Convery, from Irvine Police Station, said: "We understand that John normally maintains very close contact with his family and his sudden disappearance is completely out of character, therefore we are very concerned for his wellbeing.

"He only moved to the area around three months ago to be nearer his family and has no known friends in the area. He does however enjoy walking and has been known to walk in the Kilbirnie, Glengarnock and wider Garnock Valley area.

"I would appeal for John to get in touch with his family, or Police Scotland, to let us know that he is safe and well.

"Furthermore I would appeal for the help of the public and anyone with any information, or possible sightings, to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers at Irvine Police Station on 101 quoting incident number 1148 of Thursday 26 October.
