Bonfire night is beckoning and Glasgow is getting ready for for the biggest free fireworks display in the city.

Glasgow Fireworks 2017 will take place today at Glasgow Green and it's expected to be the biggest display yet.

As reported by the Evening Times, the city will see six tonnes of fireworks explode into the sky.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the big night.

Times

The event will run from 5pm to 9pm with access to food and drink stalls and a funfair before the big explosive finale which will begin at 7.30pm.

This year's show

The event at Glasgow Green will feature thousands of effects in different colours, some of which have been specially imported for the display. The whole show is managed and fired by a world class computer firing system controlled by a single encrypted digital signal. Sunday night's design is time-code synchronised, which means that the fireworks burst in time with the music, accurate to 1/100th of a second.

Parking

For those travelling by car, parking is free in the city after 6pm but due to the number of people attending spaces may be difficult to find and road closures may also cause difficulties.
