An asylum seeker hunted by police after escaping an immigration centre has become one of Britain's most wanted -- by women who think he's a handsome hunk.

A mugshot of Albanian Guxim Imerio, 25, was issued by cops on social media after he went on the run on Monday night.

Officers urged members of the public to report sightings of him after he disappeared from Dungavel Immigration Detention Centre near Strathaven, Lanarkshire.

They also issued a description of the escapee, who is 5ft 6 tall, of average build with short black hair and brown eyes.

They said he has "a clear complexion with an oval face and sharp features, and is possibly unshaven".

But since the appeal was issued on Tuesday evening, Imerio has attracted dozens of fans on social media who were charmed by his good looks.

Glasgow Times:

And some women are even offering to put him up for the night.

On the Facebook appeal launched by cops, Ashley Clarke wrote: "I'd give him a bed 4 the nyte."

Shelley Mcknight added: "Offft what a stunning chap - Come to mama bear - I will heat u up."

And Lisa McEwan added: "Shame he would be a right swipe on Tinder"

Other comments included Claire Malone who offered to take him in.

She wrote: "See if you see him on your travels keep him for me he can come stay with me."

Carol Semple said: "I'd be happy to go searching for him."

Kimberley Atkinson commented: "Potential baby daddy?! They'd be beautiful babies like!!"

Janey Mcneil wrote: "A lot of females will be looking out for him he's loveleee."

And David Bruce joked: "The police may as well give up the noo. This guy's tied up in some cougars dungeon. He'll no be seen again."

When last seen, Imerio was wearing a light grey hooded top with a green Liverpool FC top underneath and grey jogging bottoms.

Police said he is not fluent in English.

Imerio is not known to have family in the UK but may have some links in the Manchester area.

Inspector Higgins of East Kilbride Police Office said: "Guxim has no knowledge of the local area and Police Scotland wish to ensure that he is safe and well.

"If you live in the vicinity of Dungavel you may have seen someone of similar description in the local area walking, seeking shelter or hitchhiking?"

Imerio is not the first 'bad boy' to attract female attention from a police mugshot.

American Jeremy Meeks was dubbed the Hot Felon in 2014 after his image went viral.

The blue-eyed hunk attracted thousands of fan and ending up carving a modelling career for himself after his internet attention.

He is now dating Topshop heiress Chloe Green after splitting from his wife.

Anyone with information on to help police should contact officers at East Kilbride via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 4035 of 6 November 2017.
