A 73-YEAR-OLD woman is seriously ill in hospital after being struck by a car.
The pensioner was crossing Coltness Road in Wishaw at 6am on Monday when she was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa.
She was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where staff describe her condition as serious.
The 54-year-old male drive of the car was uninjured.
Sergeant Alasdair Marshall, from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was either on foot or driving on Coltness Road on Monday morning who may have noticed a black Vauxhall Corsa, or indeed the incident taking place, to please get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell via 101.”
