A YOUNG man was treated for smoke inhalation after a deliberate fire in Johnstone.
Emergency services rush to the scene at High Street at around 5.45am on Monday after they received a report of a fire within a common close area.
They treated a 24-year-old at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Police said enquiries carried out so far have revealed the fire was deliberately set on the middle landing area between two flats.
Detectives are checking CCTV footage from in an around the area for any additional information which could assist their enquiries.
Detective Constable Grant Spy said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have noticed anything which at the time did not seem unusual but which may seem more significant following the fire. Perhaps you saw someone hanging around the area, perhaps you noticed someone running away around the time of the incident. If you have any information please contact us."
Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Paisley Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0377 of 11 December 2017. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
