She also posted a snap on Facebook of the pair in hospital, showing the footballer’s hand resting on her leg as he lies in bed.

The 33-year-old, from Busby near Glasgow, wrote: “Some rest Stephanie’s tired today. Nacho’s been for a little walk and now resting. Doctors are pleased he’s still in a stable condition.”

Novo was featuring for Rangers in the AOK Traditionsmasters 2018 in Berlin when he was taken ill on Saturday evening after they had been knocked out of the round-robin tournament.

He was reportedly rushed to hospital from the Max-Schmeling-Halle arena before undergoing emergency surgery.
