A MAN has been seriously injured after a gang dispute in Glasgow city centre.

Detectives are appealing for information after two men were assaulted on Thursday in the early hours.

Enquiries have revealed that the men were involved in a disturbance involving at least three other men on Sauchiehall Street, near Elmbank Street.

Two men aged 36 were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with one treated for a serious leg injury and the other for minor injuries. The incident happened at around 2.55am.

One of the suspects is around 6ft tall, with a slim build and bald and he was wearing a dark blue coloured jacket.  Another suspect is also around 6 ft tall with short dark hair and in his late thirties.

Officers are gathering and reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the city centre.

Detective Constable Andy Shields said: “We are in the process of establishing exactly what has happened and what caused the disturbance which led to the two men being assaulted.

"This area would have been busy with club goers and revellers and CCTV footage shows people milling about the area.

"I am therefore appealing to anyone who was in the area where the incident occurred to contact us.

"Any small piece of information could help us piece together the circumstances of what happened and help us trace those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to cCID officers at City Centre Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0241 of Thursday 8 February 2018 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
