ACTRESS and comedian Karen Dunbar was put under the spotlight by college students.

Karen was quizzed by City of Glasgow College students as part of the Creative City Festival.

Creative City brought together art, literature, drama, entertainment and music to celebrate the work of the students in the college’s creative industries faculty.

The Chewin’ the Fat star was joined by former River City actor, Tom Urie, for an hour-long session in the college’s lecture theatre.

Students covered topics such as overcoming nerves, creating characters, inspiration, and how to work well with other actors.

The pair shared anecdotes of their time in television and on stage.

As a finale, they gave an impromptu rendition of the song, “I know him so well”.

Both Dunbar and Urie also spent time chatting one-on-one and with groups of students after the event.

Karen said: “The Q&A session with the City of Glasgow students was brilliant.

"They are an enthusiastic bunch and I’m sure they’ll go on to do some great things on TV and on-stage. Who knows, one day one of them could be back to do a Q&A of their own.”

The event was the last in this year’s Creative City Festival programme.

The fortnight long festival ran from February 26 to March 16 and included events ranging from fashion shows to expert journalism panels.

Tom added: “When Karen asked me to come along with her to the Q&A, I jumped at the chance.

"The students at City of Glasgow are really keen and passionate about what they do and that was reflected in the questions they asked us today.”

David McKinney, Curriculum Head of Media at City of Glasgow College, said: “We are very grateful to Karen and Tom for giving up their time to talk to our students today.

"The experience they can share and the advice they can offer is invaluable and will benefit our students considerably."
