A LENZIE man poured a kettle of cold water over his poor mum's head during a violent outburst.

Sahib Sood, 22, threw his mother's laptop and mobile phone on the floor and smashed the house phone to pieces during his tantrum.

It was around 11.45am when the accused lost his cool over an unpaid bill.

He approached his mum unexpectedly, stating: "It's your fault, you motherf****** b****. I've lost everything on my account now. You better undo it now."

The complainer attempted to reason with him, but he continued to shout, swear and destroy property.

Sood menaced: "Just you watch, I'll smash your f****** house up."

His mum went into the kitchen, but Sood followed, adding: "You better get this sorted."

He then lifted the kettle – quickly touching the side – and poured its contents over his mum's head.

The accused then took possession of a knife and repeatedly stabbed the dishwasher door. His mum managed to answer a call and told the person on the other side of the phone to contact the police.

When Sood disappeared into his bedroom to throw a gaming chair against his TV, his mum was able to escape and take refuge with nearby gardeners.

When the police arrived, the complainer was found to be distressed, in her nightgown and had wet hair.

Sood presented himself to the police at the front door. When asked if he still had the knife, he responded: "It's back in the kitchen, mate, I'll show you."

The officers were shown the knife and reported small stabbing cuts in a cupboard next to the sink.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Sood pleaded guilty to pouring water from a kettle over his mum's head at their home address on November 23, 2017.

He also admitted acting aggressively, shouting, swearing, uttering threats to harm his mum and cause damage to the property, repeatedly stabbing a cupboard with a knife and throwing items around the house.

Sood's lawyer stated: "It was a very unpleasant experience for his mother, he realises that."

The defence agent claimed that the argument escalated after the complainer pushed Sood, noting: "On this day he felt that his mum had been disrespectful to him."

The lawyer also highlighted that the accused touched the kettle first to make sure the water was cold before he poured it over his mum as he "didn't want to hurt her".

Sheriff Sean Murphy QC responded: "It's deliberate humiliation on the other hand."

The sheriff then told the accused: "You should be thoroughly ashamed."

Sood, of Conifer Place, will return to court on May 25 for sentencing. Sheriff Murphy QC ordered a supplementary Criminal Justice Social Work report to ascertain how the accused is progressing with another Community Payback Order. The sheriff indicated that he will consider a direct alternative to custody if Sood makes an effort and remains out of trouble.
