THE director of one of the stores ravaged by the blaze out has confirmed none of her staff have 'lost out' following the blaze.

Sarah Freel, director of the street's Specsavers branch, spoke out after James Kelly MSP called on employers to "support their staff and bear the brunt".

As reported by the Evening Times on March 30, he asked the firms affected whose premised have been destroyed and others who face a two month closure to redeploy staff in other outlets.

Sarah said: "I would like to stress that at no point have our staff lost out as a result of the fire. We have a highly skilled, highly valued team at Specsavers Sauchiehall Street and our staff have been temporarily redeployed to nearby stores.

"Our committed team has rallied together and pulled out all the stops to ensure we can continue to serve our customers during this difficult period by moving their appointments to other stores in the vicinity."

She said the optician chain already had plans to reopen at a new premises which were "well under way."

"We look forward to making an announcement in the coming weeks," she added.

"In the meantime we thank all of our loyal customers for their patience and look forward to welcoming them to our new store soon."
