The owners of a dog who went missing from kennels in Eaglesham 6 days ago have asked the public to try and help trace her.

Asha, the Akita cross was staying at Bonnyton Kennels on April 1, while her owners were on holiday in Blackpool, when she reportedly jumped over an 8ft fence into a farmer's field.

The distraught owners have been organising searches on the farmlands and surrounding areas for days with no sightings of the dog. They even camped out in the snowy weather with barbecues to try and tempt her out.

The family have also created a Facebook page, to drum up as much support as possible.

The day after Asha went missing owner Claudia Cairns wrote on the page: "Asha was at Bonnyton farm and kennels yesterday at 11:30 and we were told she had jumped an 8ft fence.

"She headed all the way past the golfcourse to the end and Bonnyton farm and that was her last sighting yesterday around 5pm.

"She would more approach women rather than men and she likes to play games if you see her she will jump about but eventually will come to you.

"She loves her comfort so we think she could be hiding in bushes or even in sheds etc she is very quiet the way she sneaks about so even though you think she might not be in farms etc she could be hiding.

"Thank you for the help we have already had and appreciate any further help on finding Asha or any advice on what to do."

The page has received an overwhelming amount of support with 1,288 members ranging from locals in the area to those as far as Dumfries who have volunteered their services.

In her most recent post, family member Courtney Cairns thanked everyone for their astounding support and efforts in the search for Asha, she said: "Thank you all so much again for everything you’re doing to support us and Asha in our search to get her home. We really can’t thank you enough..

"If you sight Asha PLEASE do not chase or call her but call us immediately

"If you can take a photo and let me know as much information as possible - for example the time, what direction she was going, was she running or walking and how did she seem.

"If you are not in the area please help us by sharing Asha’s poster - you may have friends in the area who may see her - this is vital to us and to sightings coming in

"Thank you all again so much - we couldn’t do this without you."
