A busy road near Glasgow city centre will be restricted to one lane to make way for a hotel development.

In order to install a new power supply for the Moxy Hotel on High Street, a lane closure will be implemented.

The road heading southbound between George Street and Ingram Street will have a lane closure for phase 1 of the works beginning Monday 16.

The restrictions will continue until Monday April 30 and are expected to cause delays, especially at peak times.

Moxy Hotels are creating a 180-bed hotel on the busy street within the Collegelands development as part of a nationwide roll-out of the brand.

A new civic area will be created at the junction with Duke Street and the six-storey hotel will include an 'industrial chic' lounge, bar and restaurant as well as video wall and games area.

A proposal is underway to transform High Street to give the public a chance to have their say on the future of the popular destination.
