A supermarket in the south side of Glasgow has announced it will be closing after a dispute with their landlord.

Harvest Wholefoods Co-op, on Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands, said they will stop trading this weekend after a long dispute with their landlord over the condition of the building.

The natural food shop opened in 2015 to provide the local community with 'the finest quality, nourishing, ethically-sourced and affordable whole foods'.

Bosses thanked customers for their support on social media after announcing their decision.

Taking to Facebook, they wrote: "We have really enjoyed working with a customer base that shared and supported our values.

"We would be very grateful for any help with closing - if you can spare any time this week, or you know of anyone with a van, could you contact us at info@harvestco-op.com?"

The closure comes after Giffnock Wholefoods also closed their doors to the public in November last year.

The announcement has been met with disappointment from customers.

Emily Allison wrote: "Really hope you re-open somewhere else in the southside! Just started trying to live more zero-waste and I don't know anywhere else that does refills, bamboo toothbrushes, etc without extra packaging after Whole Foods in Giffnock closed too. Such a shame."

David Sneddon added: "Very sad to hear this. It was a great addition to the Shawland’s area. Something needs to be done about Southside landlords.

"We keep losing great things down to their greed."

Kate Cunningham said: "You’ll be a huge loss to Shawlands. I hope to see you return eventually."
