A GOOD Samaritan was attacked by strangling after trying to help calm down an argument between two other passengers.
The man was verbally and physically attacked on a late night service between Queen Street and Croy.
The suspect swore at him before assaulting and attempting to strangle him.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: "Luckily, the victim managed to fend off this attack before the suspect made further physical threats.
"Officers are now looking to identify any witnesses to this altercation.
"If you were on board the train and saw what happened, please contact British Transport Police."
The incident took place around midnight on Sunday, February 24.
