MURDER cops are investigating after a man was slashed and stabbed during a fight in Sandyhills.

The 36-year-old was found injured in Loch Achray Street at around 9.30pm on Sunday and the incident is being treated as attempted murder.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, and he has since been released.

Detectives said that enquiries carried out so far have revealed that the man may have been involved in a disturbance in the surrounding area which resulted in him sustaining his injuries.

Officers have also been gathering CCTV footage for review, and are conducting door-to-door enquiries for further information on the crime and the suspect.

It is hoped residents living in nearby high-rise flats could provide clues as to who is responsible for the murder bid.

Detective Constable Philip Scally said: “This area is overlooked by high-rise flats and I am appealing to local residents for any information regarding this incident to contact us.

"A man has suffered serious lacerations and stab wounds as a result of this incident so if you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please pass it on to us.

"Your information could prove vital in helping us piece together exactly what has happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Shettleston Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 4190 of 13 May 2018.
