FIRE thugs have targeted several vehicles used by a taxi firm to advertise their business.

Detectives are now investigating the three fires on yellow Skodas and say they were deliberately set on fire as part of a targeted attack.

Officers believe the incidents occurred between 12.30am and 1am on Monday.

The first car was set alight in the Whitlawburn area near to Western Road in Cambuslang.

The second incident occurred in East Kilbride Road, near Bradda Avenue, Rutherglen.

The third car was set on fire in Castlemilk Road near the Croft Pub.

No-one was in any of the cars as they are used for advertising purposes.

Officers continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries and are checking CCTV images for any additional information.

Detective Constable Paul Galligan said: “These vehicles are used to advertise a taxi firm and we believe they have been specifically targeted.

"However, the reason why they have been targeted is unknown. We need to establish exactly what has happened and why. I am appealing to local people in these areas to think back and consider if they noticed anything a little odd or suspicious. Any small detail could assist us in establishing why this has happened and lead us to tracing whoever is responsible.”
