A MAN has been charged with an alleged firearms offence after a raid in Summerston.

The 24-year-old was snared by police who swooped in on the property on Broughton Road around 6.20am on Thursday morning.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow after being arrested and charged.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 6.20am on Thursday May 24, police officers carried out a search on a property on Broughton Road.

"A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to a firearms offence and is expected to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday 25 May.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

As previously reported by the Evening Times, neighbours were given a shock wave up call after armed police descended on the street.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing several police vans and an ambulance near the property.
