A PHARMACY assistant who was caught pinching money from her work has been left feeling "humiliated".

Andrina Mooney, 51, was exposed when a member of staff checked the shop's CCTV after discovering a large number of irregular transactions.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Mooney pleaded guilty to embezzling £800 from LloydsPharmacy on Carmunnock Road between August 4 and October 9, 2017.

In defence it was claimed that Mooney had repaid the stolen cash.

Her lawyer stated: "She's completely humiliated. She can't explain why she did it."

The accused, who had been working at the pharmacy for seven years, was in no great financial hardship and merely started stealing one day when a customer gave her money in a rush and left. She resigned when confronted.

Mooney, who is now working in retail, was said to have suffered for her crime.

Her lawyer added: "She won't be troubling the courts again."

Sheriff Ian Fleming highlighted the serious breach of trust, adding: "I appreciate the traumatic effect this had on you.

"I hope we don't see you here again."

Mooney, of Downcraig Terrace in Castlemilk, was sentenced to a Community Payback Order with 70 hours of unpaid work to be completed within a year.
