Thumpasaurus play at Underbelly Cowgate’s White Belly, at midnight every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during August.

Lucas Tamaren and Henry Was from Thumpasaurus answer our questions.

  • What is your Fringe show about?

Our Fringe show is about getting people to dance and let go of their minds. We have a narrative/mythological background to present our music through, but mostly the show is about having a good time and sweating a lot.

  • How many times/many years have you appeared at the Fringe?

This will be our second time at the Edinburgh Fringe with the Stamptown boys and we love it.

  • What’s your most memorable moment from the Fringe?

Most memorable moment of the Fringe was our last show of the 2017 run. Everyone who had come to our show multiple times was crying - we were crying - and it was such a sad relief to be done with the festival. Very emotional one for us.

  • What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?

Flyering for shows. Trying to convince people that they are about to experience something awesome, and dealing with people who have been heckled and flyered all day. They want none of it and doing it makes you feel like an ass.

  • If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t a performer I would be a bad ass military man. But, in the animal rescue kind of military.

  • How do you prepare for a performance?

We prepare for shows with sleep. Any sleep that can happen at the Fringe must be taken advantage of. Green room sleep, bed time sleep, merch booth sleep - any sleep.

  • Favourite thing about being in Edinburgh?

Favourite thing about Edinburgh is the excitement of the city during the Fringe. It is contagious and stressful.

  • What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

We played a game of what you call ‘skittles’ where old men heave themselves with a ball to knock down pins. We call it bowling in the U.S and there are no old men flinging themselves down a lane.

  • Favourite Scottish food/drink?

Haggis?

  • Sum up your show in three words

Wow. Dance party.
