HE'S a cherished childhood friend - and now Winnie the Pooh is raising funds for his fans.

Vue Glasgow Fort is bringing film Christopher Robin to the big screen a day ahead of its official release to raise money and awareness for MediCinema.

British actor Ewan McGregor, star of Christopher Robin and MediCinema patron, showed his support for the initiative by urging people to donate to the charity by purchasing tickets to the preview screenings.

Tomorrow, Vue Glasgow Fort will hold previews of Christopher Robin with all proceeds from Vue and Disney going to MediCinema.

Founded in 1999, MediCinema aims to bring the joy and escapism of cinema to patients undergoing treatment for complex illnesses and injuries in hospitals around the UK.

Kat Mason, Chief Executive of MediCinema said “You honestly can’t overestimate the difference that going to the movies in your hospital bed can make - it is precious normality, a chance to escape into other worlds, a shared experience and memory made together when it is needed most.

“Please do come out and see the film on Friday - by buying a ticket, you’ll be helping people seriously ill in hospital and their families to share a precious movie moment together and feel better with film.”

MediCinema provides a sense of relief for many patients including those at Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

Tracy Ferguson, General Manager at Vue Glasgow Fort, said “We are proud supporters of MediCinema and are delighted to help raise awareness of this inspiring charity, encouraging our customers to support and donate."
