A CHEEKY joker has called upon Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell to turn the "disco lights" on outside Parkhead.

The video filmed by Grant O'Donnell on the club's famous Celtic Way has gone viral since it was uploaded to the social media website Twitter, attracting over 40,000 views.

With the Bee Gees hit Stayin' Alive blaring in the background, the prankster screams, 'Peter, gonna put the disco lights on?!"

Glasgow Times:

Chris Sutton

His hilarious stunt comes after former Hoops star Chris Sutton took a swipe at the club for spending more money on "disco lights" than new players.

The club crashed out of the third qualifying round of the Champions League against AEK Athens and the build-up to the game had been taken over by transfer rows.

It is understood that Celtic forked out £2 million on a new state of the art lighting system but failed to bring Hibs' star John McGinn to the club.

Speaking on BT Sport five minutes before the end of the game, Sutton said: “Celtic have been complacent, whoever’s fault it is.

“The McGinn deal…I think Peter Lawwell has come under a lot of fire for that and understandably so.

“Celtic have stock-piled this money.

“They have spent £2million on disco lights at Celtic Park for Champions League nights and they may not get there.

“Invest in the playing squad!”
