An exclusion zone has been set up surrounding Ayr station, meaning no trains are able to get near the station.

The incident has been triggered by an old hotel building close to the station and it's prompted dozens of cancellations and delays. Services between Ayr and Glasgow are operating with a reduced number of carriages, while some may be cancelled.

Trains between Ayr and Girvan will be suspended, while services between Central and Stranraer via Kilmarnock will be terminated at Kilmarnock.

All stations between Ayr and Stranraer will not be served.

Ticket acceptance is in place on local buses and a Stagecoach bus replacement service is available at certain stations.

It is not yet known when the exclusion zone will be lifted.
