SCOTTISH outfit Fara will be bringing their sweet folk sounds to the city.

The supergroup are set to play at Oran Mor on Wednesday, September 12.

Bringing together four leading musicians at the forefront of today’s Scottish folk scene, Fara’s line-up includes Jennifer Austin, Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price.

With three fiddles and a piano, this fearsome quartet produce a fiery sound rooted strongly in their upbringing among the music of Orkney.

With vibrant arrangements full of rich harmonies, energetic fiddle playing and driving piano, Fara’s music is an exciting and unforgettable live experience.

Showcasing music from their upcoming album, Times from Times Fall – which will be released on October 19, the group have a host of new material they can’t wait to share with fans up and down the country.

With a mixture of self-penned and traditional Orkney tunes as well as stunning vocals, the young women’s combined musicality and friendship produce an exhilarating and individual sound.

Catriona, one of the fiddle players in the band, said: “We were asked to form in 2014 for the Orkney Folk Festival and we have never looked back.

“That gave us such a great excuse to get the band going, which was something we’d been chatting about for a while.

“We’d all known each other since we were children but coming back together as adults having gone away and each done different things musically has given the band a unique sound – everybody started out in the same way, but now all bring different musical aspects to the table.

“We’re all such brilliant friends and we absolutely love touring – we’re especially looking forward to this tour as we’ll be getting to showcase material from the new album which we hope the Oran Mor crowd will enjoy.”
