THIS stomach-churning video shows live WORMS crawling out of a piece of fish bought from Tesco.

Shopper Louis Yssel watched in horror as several bright red worms slithered out of the monkfish he was preparing for a curry.

The 32-year-old bought the monkfish tails from the fresh fish counter at the Tesco store in Doncaster on Sunday afternoon.

But it was not until midway through the cooking that singer Louis noticed the worms - up to one-and-a-half inch long - crawling out of the fleshy fish.

Glasgow Times:

He said: “I begun marinating the fish with lemon juice and some Lebanese spices and popped it in the fridge for an hour.

"It wasn't until I had left it sitting on the side for 20 minutes that I saw this worm wriggling out

“It was absolutely disgusting.

“If I wasn’t paying attention I could have easily added it to the dish and eaten it!

“I had already put the bone in the sauce and I love to cook so I was having a taste as I was going along.

Louis immediately phoned the Tesco to complain and was offered a £7.50 refund as well as a £10 voucher by way of an apology.

He declined that offer and returned the fish to the shop, where he was given a refund of £57 – the total cost of his shopping bill on the day.

Louis, who lives in Doncaster with his firefighter boyfriend Christopher Jones, 33, added: “We had spent all that money on ingredients and had to get a takeaway after.

“But when I spoke to the manager he didn’t seem that bothered.

"He said it might be parasitic worm.

"It didn’t fill me with assurances that it wouldn’t happen again. It was a half-hearted apology.

“I’m not great with fish at the best of times but this has put me off for life."

A spokesman for Tesco said: “We are really sorry to hear about this incident and are grateful to Christopher and Louis for returning the monkfish to our Doncaster Extra store.

"We are now carrying out a full investigation and will be in touch with Christopher and Louis to let them know of our findings.”
