A MAJOR investigation has been launched after an elderly woman was robbed in Wishaw.

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to to assist their investigation.

The 76-year-old was target as she walked along Marigold Path near Yarrow Crescent in the Coltness area around 6pm on July 28.

Officers have asked any members of the public who recognise him to contact them.

He is described as white, around 5 ft 10 inches in height, of medium build and believed to be in his 20s.

Glasgow Times:

He has a distinctive haircut which is short, dark and shaved at the sides, and can be seen wearing a navy blue jacket.

He may have access to a light blue Seat Motor vehicle.

Detective Constable Lindsey McIntyre said:"I am appealing to local people in the area who may have seen or heard something related to this incident who perhaps didn't realise the relevance at the time.

"It may not have seemed unusual or suspicious then but in the context of the crime taking place, it could be vital information which could assist our investigation.

Glasgow Times:

"I would also appeal to anyone who recognises the man shown in the images above, or the man himself, to contact police at the earliest opportunity."
