A GLASGOW stylist has won a top award.

Paddy McDougall, from Rainbow Room International in George Square, picked up The It Guy gong at The It List 2018.

Accepting the trophy at a star-studded ceremony in London last week, the 28-year-old said: “It just feels amazing to be up here winning an award in front of the people who I admire so much.

“It’s so surreal – thank you anyone who has helped me.”

The It List, launched by magazine Creative HEAD, recognises the best emerging talent in the UK hairdressing industry.

The competition judges – including hairdressers Lee Stafford and James Galvin – were all impressed by the way Paddy splits his time between the salon and his session work. His prize included a trophy and a day’s mentoring with a GHD global brand ambassador.

Previous It List winners have gone on to secure lucrative contracts as ambassadors for global brands, get snapped up by leading talent agencies, join backstage teams at fashion weeks around the world, and present at Creative HEAD events.

Catherine Handcock, publisher of Creative HEAD, said: “Paddy eats, sleeps, lives and breathes hair and even at this young age is highly respected by his peers. He is determined to make his mark in this industry and winning The It Guy will ensure that all eyes will be on him over the coming year.”
