A TEENAGER who vanished from his home on Friday has been spotted overnight.

Police Scotland have re-appealed for information over the whereabouts of 13-year-old Jason Phillips who has been missing from Cumnock.

He was last seen in the town centre of Cumnock at around 3 pm on Friday, however, there has since been a reported sighting of him in the area of Wylie Crescent late last night.

Jason is white, around 5 ft 4 inches in height, of slim build, short fair hair, blue eyes and has braces on his teeth.

When last seen, he was wearing a white polo top, or white shirt and school tie, and black trousers.

He is also wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up. Officers believe he is carrying a grey and black Adidas bag.

The force urged the public to allow police to carry out searches for the youngster.

Inspector Christine Boyd, Irvine Police Office, said: “Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries in order to trace Jason, acting on any information received from his family, friends and the public.

“The public has been rallying round in support and although we appreciate their concern, we would ask that the police are left to carry out searches in areas where he has been sighted so they can use specialist resources, such as the dog unit, effectively.

“We are extremely concerned for Jason, and his family and friends are understandably upset.

“If anyone has seen Jason or has any information as to his whereabouts, please do contact us. We would ask those who live in the area of Wylie Crescent, Michie Street, McCall Avenue and Glaisnock Street to keep an eye out for Jason and to contact Police if they have any information.

“We would also ask Jason himself to get in contact with his family or the Police to let us know he is okay.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 3019 of Friday 14 September 2018.

UPDATE: Jason has been now been traced, the family thanks everyone who helped in the search.
