An investigation has been launched after gunshots were fired in a residential Wishaw street.

Police are appealing for information after the weapon was discharged multiple times on Earn Crescent on September 11.

Officers were called to the scene around 12.30am following reports of gunshots being heard.

After a search of the area no firearms were found but it has since been established that shots were fired.

Detective Inspector Kenny Dalrymple, of Wishaw CID, is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “Officers carried out a thorough search of the area at the time of the initial report, however since then enquiries have established that a firearm was discharged in the street that night.

“We have received several reports of what sounded like multiple gunshots in quick succession and an unknown vehicle speeding out of Earn Crescent.

“We would appeal to anyone with any information, you may live in the area and have not yet spoken to officers making door to door enquiries, or were nearby that night. Think back, did you hear or see anything unusual?”

Anyone with info is asked to call Wishaw CID on 101 using incident number 0083 of Tuesday 11 September 2018. Info can also be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The incident happened just days after Gary More was gunned down outside of his home on Gartness Drive, Chapelhall, Airdrie

The 32-year-old was shot multiple times by an unknown man who pulled up in a white Skoda Fabia on September 6.
