A BURNSIDE man has been jailed for branding his mum a "s**g" for allegedly sleeping with one of his friends.

Thomas McAvoy, 27, lost his temper when he confronted his mother over allegations that she was in a sexual relationship with a mate.

Police were called to the scene, to which they overhead the accused shouting: "You're a f*****g s**g – trying to s**g my pals."

The incident happened on May 5, 2017.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court this week, McAvoy pleaded guilty to shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks at a house in Richmond Place, Rutherglen. He also admitted failing to show up at court without a reasonable excuse on April 23 this year.

In defence, Miss Terrance explained that her client had a love/hate relationship with his mum.

The accused accepted he had "significant problems with drink and drugs" and was intoxicated when he confronted his mother.

Sheriff Charlotte Coutts sentenced McAvoy, of Snaefell Crescent, to 40 days in jail for his outburst.
