If you're stressing about coming up with a brilliant Halloween costume idea, then why not look for inspiration from the wonderful city we live in.

Glasgow has produced several famous people, characters and products over the years and plenty of them would make cracking costumes for any Halloween bash.

Here are our top seven Halloween costumes directly related to Glasgow...

1. Duke of Wellington

Glasgow Times:

He's the man on a horse with a cone for a hat, and he has become somewhat of an iconic figure around the city and beyond.

Reinventing the man himself for a Halloween costume would be relatively inexpensive and easy to do, grab a pretend horse and a cone and you're all set!

2. Rab C. Nesbitt

Glasgow Times:

Headband? Check. String vest? Check. Blazer that hasn't been washed in about a month? Well... that can be sorted.

The lovable Glaswegian character will definitely be a crowd pleaser.

After creating laughs for viewers across the city back in the 90s, the alcoholic, who isn't afraid to say what he thinks, is still a memorable character today and one everyone would recognise.

3. Limmy Character

Glasgow Times:

The controversial Glaswegian comedian has brought us many iconic characters over the years through his sketch shows meaning there are a whole load of costume ideas to choose from.

From recovering alcoholic Jacqueline McCafferty to spaced out Dee Dee, the possibilities are endless.

4. Jack and Victor, Still Game

Glasgow Times:

With the famous television series drawing to a close, this could well be the best year to get the grey wigs out and sleeveless cardigans on.

Although Jack and Victor are the two most obvious characters to dress up as, there are plenty of other roles which would make brilliant costumes, and if you have all the bodies why not put together the whole Craiglang gang.

5. Saint Mungo

Glasgow Times:

The founder and patron saint of the city of Glasgow would make a somewhat unorthodox costume but a great one none the less.

Often depicted carrying a crosier and wearing a long mantle and hat, the saint also has a long grey beard.

On a similar train of thought, four people could get together to visualise the four miracles said to have been perfomed by the saint and which are symbolised in the City Council's crest - the bird that never flew, the tree that never grew, the bell that never rang and the fish that never swam.

6. Lulu

Glasgow Times:

The famous Glasgow-born singer, who performed hit theme songs for two bond films, would make for a brilliant costume.

The musician has sported an iconic fringe for many years and any of her funky outfits featuring knee-high boots from back in the sixties would go down a treat.

7. Can of Tennents

Glasgow Times:

The popular lager brewed right here in the city, made famous by the T in the Park festival is easily one of the most recognised Glasgow brands.

Previously created by students, the can costumes can be made with cylinder shaped folding laundry baskets and paired with pull-ring hairbands for a hilarious ensemble.

Why not recruit five other friends to make up a six-pack.
